DEPUTY President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege Members of the House of Representives, Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, Efe Afe and Rt. Hon Ben Igbakpa and other dignitaries are expected to grace the grand finale of Urhobo Annual Challenge sponsored by Dr. Ovie Ughwanogho and facilitate by Urhobo Progressive Youths Association, UPYA, led by Comrade Marcus Ekure.
According to the secretary of the planing committee, Counsellor Denis Agori, “The vision of the challenge is to nurture Urhobo students that have the value for the cultural heritage of the Urhobo nation and can compete on global level favourably with students of other ethnic nationalities and race.
“The mission is to promote Urhobo education, culture, unity, history among institutions, ethics and value system through our students withe the view to re-engineering their mindset towards societal overall good and global impact.
Agori stated that “the competition is to test the intellectual capacity and reward of excellence and character, all students, candidates and guests are all expected to be on Urhobo cultural attires to add festive glamour to the event.
“The first and second editions of the competition in 2017/2018 were won by Omonigho Raphael of Erho secondary school, Abraka in Ethiope East and Urhobe Onome of Orogun Grammar School in Delta state while the third edition will be held at Wellington Hotels in Effurun “. Agori said.
The sponsor of the competition, Olorogun Dr. Ovie Ughwanogho said, “Urhobo people should be proud of their language and culture and teach the upcoming generation the importance of Urhobo language”.
