The Councillor representing ward 9, Ewulu in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State, Mrs Patience Igbadi has appealed to Security Agents in the State to come to the aid of the Ewulu community following the gruesome murder of Mrs. Dumebi Theresa Nwabuokei on July 5, 2019.
Mrs Igbadi made this appeal while speaking on the recent murder of the young lady who went to farm revealed that for the past one week, women across the community have been in a mournful mood, lamentinging that they are no longer safe to go to farms.
Igbadi, who narrated the ordeal said, “the young lady, Mrs. Dumebi Nwabuokei went to the farm to fetch food for her family but wasn’t seen till the following day when the family of the deceased reported the case to the king, His Royal Majesty Obi Godwin Onyenweuwa who instantly summoned the men of the community to the farm and surrounding bushes, just for them to discover the dead body of the woman with her sensitive parts removed.
The king immediately sent his Chiefs to the Police Divisional office at Nsukwa and they went to the scene and investigation is still on to find out those behind this ugly incident.”
The Councillor noted that since this incident, women of Ewulu Community who are predominately farmers could not carry out their family activities without fear of bandits.
Mrs Patience Igbadi called on the Delta State government to direct the State Security Service, Nigeria Police and Civil Defence Corps to take surveillance on the bush to ensure that the farming areas are safe for farmers, and furthered appealed to the Security Agents to ensure that those behind the murder are brought to book, also to ensure that proper surveillance are carried out in the bush to make the farm lands safe for cultivation.
She commended the Obi of Ewulu Kingdom, Obi Godwin Onyenweuwa for prompt response in reporting to the Divisional Police Office at Nsukwa and the manner the Police responded on the issue.
