Nigeria Police attached to the Abraka division has arrested a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ethiope East local government area of Delta State (name withheld), and two others in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old girl simply identified as Favour whose lifeless body was discovered inside a Ghana-must-go sack recently.
It would be recalled the corpse of the victim, Favour Ogheneyenrowho Sunday, a fashion designer, was discovered naked and tied inside the sack which was kept by a waste dump behind Ozoro Park in the university community of Abraka.
The incident is coming eight months after the murder of a student of the Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Elozino Ogege for money making ritual purpose.
Sources from the community hinted that the late Favor was strangled to death with her pubic region shaved for ritual purpose.
The arrest of the PDP chieftain, who also is a traditional chief from one of the two Abraka kingdoms, is sequel to a confessional statement by one Henry Ikechukwu who was said to be a male friend to the deceased.
Henry according to security sources was arrested and taken to the Abraka police station where he confessed to have handed over the girl to the PDP chieftain for unknown reasons a day before her remains was discovered.
However, the chief who was out of Abraka, was last Friday arrested after he was lured back to town by a team of detectives from the Inspector General of Police monitoring team who told him that they were interested in purchasing one of his properties.
Giving details of the interrogation, a source at the Abraka Police station said: “The PDP chieftain denied the allegations leveled against him by Henry but owned up that he knows him quite well.”
