58-yr Vigilante Member Killed In Iwhreko, Ekiugbo Crisis In Ughelli North

 

 
A- 58 yr old pioneer member of Ughelli Bakassi identified as Mr Lucky Ighowhare, Monday night, shot dead by suspected youths from the warring faction from Iwhreko and Ekiugbo communities over the alleged renewed hostilities over alleged Ughelli main market revenue collection in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learned that, Mr Lucky Ighowhare, commonly known as ‘Thunder’ who hails from one of the warring communities was shot dead at the presence of his wife and children while preparing to have his dinner at about 10:pm on that fateful day.
According to sources, “The deceased victim was preparing to have his dinner with his family when hundreds of youths from one of the warring communities stormed his residence at Sam-Oteri street off Isoko and shot him dead at his door step.
The source alleged that death of Mr Lucky Ighowhare sent a shocker wave as people from the area scampered for safety because of sporadic shooting that rented the air before the unfortunate incident.
“He was killed at his door step sitting beside his wife and children awaiting the food that was being warmed on their gas cooker, he shirtless when the unfortunate incident occurred and was left in his pool of blood. The anonymous source revealed.
The death of ‘Thunder’ was third persons to be killed in the melee and it has raised tension between both communities of reprisal attack.
It would be recalled that, two person, Mr Onome Oyibo was shot dead at Ughelli Main market, while Mr. Nathaniel Ogra died from bullet injuries at the Ughelli Central Hospital.
As a result of the incident, the Ughelli main market has remained closed at the moment and the leadership of the Great Ughelli kingdom has maintained a closed lip since the incident occurred.

As at the time of this report, security check points were being mounted at the both side of the market to avoid further escalation of the crisis.
At the moment, the remains of the killed victims are currently at the Ughelli Central Hospital morgue.
