Aggrieved members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, have issue warning to leaders of the party to amend their ways in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The aggrieved members in a statement issued at Ughelli disclosed that the party has deviated from rewarding her loyalists and traded their loyalty for newcomers.
An aggrieved member, Hon Henry Aruero from Ogor ward said, “I and my followers are angry with the leadership of the party in the local government because after using us to work during elections, and if there is any renumeration, they will divert it to their people living outside the shores of the country.
“It is expected that a workers deserves their wages or salaries as the case may be but in our case, other people that never worked for the party are those they appreciate and appoint.
“While we will continue to support the State Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his selflessness towards a better Delta State but the Ughelli North Local Government leaders should change if they are thinking of 2027.
On his part, the Coordinator of PDP units chairmen forum Ughelli North Chapter, Coach Charlie Tuedor said, “In Ughelli North we have 11 wards with 400 units chairmen, and 400 women leader including a 17-man executive respectively.
“The leaders are forgetting that it is the units that produce the results that go to the wards and LGA and if they are underrating the units it will be difficult to win future elections.
“We love the PDP as a party, and we want it to grow, but we must be sincere to ourselves, during campaigns we went round to canvass from door to door to convince our people the reason they should work and vote for the PDP but today we have been turned to laughing stocks because of the neglect.
“Immediately after the election, thy dissolved all Unit executives forgetting that we still have influence in our various units in the local Government.
“The leaders should recognize the unit chairmen for the work they did during the previous elections and what they will do in future election if all things go well as dissolving the units is not a solution.
On his part, Coordinator of Not Too Young to Lead Initiative, and Ughelli North Administrator of Delta Integrity Group, Amb. Kporharo Efeludu Emmanuel said, It is painful that after staking my life for our dear party, PDP leaders in Ughelli ambushed us and our followers.
“While I give kudos to the state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for construction the Ughelli link road that has eased and decongest traffic at Otovwodo junction.
Today some of us are angry because while we were working for the party they told us that when monkey work, monkey go shop not knowing that when monkey work Baboon go shop.
“In previous elections in Ughelli North, we have one major opposition the APC three other from our party the PDP but we choose to follow the Okpe born dynamic Governor that has not failed us.
“While the governor is doing marvelously well in all facet of governance, some of the leaders are wanting to tarnish his image because of greed and if they are not curtailed now, we don’t know what will happened future elections.”
