AHEAD of the 2019 general elections, Women, youths from Orogun, Agbarha-Otor, Ogor and Evwreni communities in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have called on Mr. Innocent Iyede to vie for the position of the Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli North Constituency I, in the 2019 general elections.
The youths under a social political pressure group, ‘Concern Citizens for Betta Governance’ in a peaceful rally defiled the heavy downpour, converged at Orogun, the country home of Iyede urging him to contest the elections in 2019.
Speaking at the gathering, Leader of group, Amb. Raymond Ugbeh said, we have watched carefully the development strides of Mr. Innocent Iyede how he has touched lives across Ughelli North Local Government.
“He has single handedly repaired the bad portions of the Agbarha-Otor/Orogun road making it motorable and he is also presently constructing a curvet, drainages in Orogun community
According Ugbeh, “Innocent Iyede is a grassroot politician, he is the only person who has open an industry in his home town, giving employment to the grassroots even while his not in government and not given any political appointment.
“We from the four communities that make up Ughelli North Constituency I, are here appealing to him to vie for the House of Assembly position come 2019
“Funds to purchase the form or ticket should not deterred him because we are very much ready to tax ourselves to buy him form to run.”
Also, women of the kingdom in en-masse, rallied round the community eulogizing him as a son who has made them proud with his hard earnings.
The concerned women and youths who described Innocent Iyede as a rare blessing to the people of the kingdom said, his contributions put together, beats the records of many politicians who have so much enjoyed the luxuries of government without any meaningful impact on their people.
Mr. Chris Idogun who spoke on behalf of Agbarha- Otor said, “if Iyede can transverse Orogun to award a contract on sand filling of bad spots in Agbarha- Otor town were there are political leaders and wealthy sons without remourse, then he is the kind of political leader they need to represent them at the state house of assembly.
In affirmation, Prince Sunday Onikebi, on behalf of Ogor community at the rally said, “if Iyede can identify the area of job creation by employing over fifty (50) young boys and girls into his home based personal enterprise that would have thrived better in the township but he decided to come back home to spread his wealth among his people.
“The people are sure to benefit more of government dividends because of his developmental attitude towards his people.They said.
“He is the people center brother, son and leader in the entire Ughelli north local government area”.
