NDDC: Ughelli North APC Chairman Berates S/South Govs, Lori-Ogbebor

By Omoghene Benedict,
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ughelli North Chapter, Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje has called governors from the South/South region to quash their protest against the appointment of Bernard Okumagba as the Managing Director of NDDC Board and work with board to build to develop region.
Obakpororo who spoke to newsmen at Ughelli, Delta state said, “It is the sole prerogative and right of the president to appoint whoever he deem fit to work with him and it is not the problem of the South/South governors to recommend, interfere, or dictate to the president.
He had also described the sueing of Federal Government by Rita Lori-Ogbebor as show of academic exercise.
According to the APC chieftain,  Commissioners of states are appointed by their governors without the interference of anybody,so why would they want to agitate for what is the exclusive right of the president.
Since the creation of the NDDC Board, there are laws backing it as an Act and the president has acted in accordance to that Act and that of the National Assembly.
Our South/South governors should shelve their swords and work with the new board and take the region to the next level.
On Rita Lori-Ogbebor, Obakpororo said, ” She is on academic exercise by going to court to sue Federal Government over the appointment of Okumagba, though she may have her reasons for going to court.
She should know that Bernard Okumagba is from an Oil Producing local government in Delta South and she will fail because this is not the first time appointment have be made.
“When Adjogbe was made to replace Tuoyo, people went to court and protested, but what matter most is ruling out sentiment, clanish ideas  and think of those who can deliver.
First and foremost, we have to look at the credibility of who the president has appointed and that is what we are looking at, those that can deliver on the promises of the Next Level of the President.
The President made promises to we in Niger-Delta and if he feels these are the people that can deliver on his campaign promises to the electorate, what stops him from appointing them.
“She stop being clanish and sentimental but be looking for is people with questionable characters, under EFCC investigation and not the caliber of the president appointment.” he said.
The appointment of Bernard Okumagba as the Managing Director of NDDC by President Muhammadu Buhari as round peg in a round hole.
