THE Divisional Police Officer attached to ‘A’ division Ughelli, CSP Kevin Zuokumor and the local Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN has read riot act to criminals in Ughelli and environs to desist from the act of criminality or face the wrath of the law.
This is just as two suspected armed robbers were arrested at Ekiugbo-Ughelli by vigilante while trying to rob a man of his motorcycle.
CSP Zuokumor gave this warning in his office when he was addressing the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, led by the state commandant, Monday Owhosiri that were on ‘Show of Force’ patrol.
“The Nigeria Police and vigilante will always work in synergy to combat crime to the barest minimum, the vigilantes knows the terrain of the community unlike the police.
On his part, The state commandant of the Vigilantes, Comrade Monday Owhosiri said, “We need peace in Ughelli Kingdom and the activities of criminals needs to be tackled within Ughelli and environs. They should turn a new leave or face the wrath of the law.
“With the Nigeria Police, we are out for them because we want to make Ughelli one of the safest abode in Delta state where people can sleep with their eyes closed. “Vigilante and community policing are to assist the division for peace to reign and we will not relent until criminals are chased out of the local government”. Owhosiri vows.
Also, the management secretary of Ughelli North vigilante, Mr Monday Akpodiete said, “With the introduction of Ughelli Kingdom vigilante headed by the monarchy, indigenes and non-indegene, there have been relative peace in the area but that would not stop us from doing our duties”.
Speaking on the arrest, a security source disclosed that the arrested suspects had successfully completed their operation before luck ran against them.
According to the source, they were accosted following an alarm raised by the victim after he was disposed of his cash and mobile phone. We have handed them over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution. The vigilante source revealed.
